built for the monsoon, not just the heat
The east takes some of the heaviest rainfall in the country from June to September, so the priority here is waterproof rather than simply matte. A waterproof kajal and liner hold where a creamy pencil migrates the moment the air turns wet; a lighter base outperforms full coverage that streaks in a downpour. Winters flip the problem entirely — Kolkata and Patna get genuinely dry, and that is the season to move back to a satin lip and a hydrating base rather than fighting shine that is no longer there.

Puja is the hardest wear test in the Indian calendar: five days, long nights, crowds, dhunuchi smoke and continuous photographs. The classic Bengali look — a defined kajal eye and a true red lip — survives it when the formulas are right: transfer-proof on the lips, smudge-proof on the waterline, T-zone set with a matte powder and the whole face locked with a fixer spray.
